Happy Spring!

Look what sprang up at my house today! This is a group quilt from the very fun gals over at 15 minutes play. I sewed all the blocks together today. I had all these red petal shape scraps leftover from my Eyelashes quilt, and since it's a scrap quilt, and the first day of spring...

I did love the quilt before the tulips arrived. But many of you were good at encouraging me to go that next step and make it my own. I'm so glad you did! Now for some easy hand-applique.

Come to think of it, it's kind of a reverse of this quilt I made a few years ago, based on the cover quilt from the book, Georgia Quilts, by Anita Zeleski Weinraub.

I hope you're seeing spring blooms at your house too!

I think you should be called speedy quilts. You must quilt all through the night! I think the red flowers look great on top of the scrappy blocks. I don't know how you manage to get scraps to look so good but you do.

The petals applique make this quilt sing. It is so wonderful that they help move your eye around on the quilt so you don't miss anything.
You made it terrific. Bonnie

Oh those red flowers are perfect! What a wonderful quilt. You really have a magic touch.

Funny how it is the reverse of the quilt that
has scrap flowers on the red backgrounds.

It snowed all day today and we got a couple inches to celebrate the first day of spring! This has got to stop! Haha. I can imagine all the crocus bulbs working their way up to the surface under the snow. I treated this like a blizzard and got a lot done on my retreat quilt today. Made the best of it, you know.

Now if only my tulips were as bright as yours right now. Are you coming to Bellingham for Gwen Marstons classes in May?

Such a pretty quilt. Red is my favorite color. Is is machine or hand quilted? I'm a hand quilter, and there aren't many of us out here.
