Happy Birthday, Em!

Look what arrived in my mailbox last week! It comes from Em, the jubilant and talented quiltmaker in Utah who regularly dishes out love and happiness to all. I don't know why she picked me to be the recipient of this beautiful piece, but I'm so happy she did! It hangs in my sewing room, cheering me up everyday and reminding me of all the generous and supportive souls here in blogland.

If you get a chance, stop by her blog and wish her a happy birthday this weekend. You'll be inspired and entertained by her many happy quilts!

I'm still playing around with this group quilt from the 15 minutes play gals. I have a lot of these red petal shaped scraps leftover from the eyelashes quilt. Well, we've got to find a way to use those scraps. Right?

Eyelashes is Done!

Well, the top is, anyway. I'm taking a moment to celebrate the occasion before it goes in the "tops to quilt" pile.

This is one of those quilts that "takes a village." Many thanks to Ann Champion for the inspiration with her vintage rescue quilt. Kaffe Fassett, for the pattern from his book, Quilt Romance.

Wonderful fabrics from Victoria, Buffy and Bonnie.

Curved piecing instructions and encouragement from many of you!

I think it will look great on my bed.

This blank design wall is the best reward. Onto new projects!

Good Ol' Fashioned String Quilt

My very favorite quilts are the mish-mash "string" quilts from years ago. This is my attempt to recreate one of those. It's a group project with the fun gals over at the 15 minutes play blog.

There's nothing better than sitting down and sewing a bunch of scraps together. Each block is 6-1/2".
