After quilting three quilts in the last three weeks, I can honestly say I enjoy free-motion quilting! I thought I'd NEVER say that, not in a million years. I gave myself the goal of quilting three quilts this summer--the two in the last post and this one. They're not perfect, but that's fine with me. My only goal was to get them DONE. I figure a quilt, no matter how it's quilted, is better than a pieced top sitting in the cupboard.
This is the third in my series of "summer quilts," that is, quilts that I made over the last two summers. I knew I wouldn't want to work with these when the cooler weather came. I only like to work with colors of the season. Are you that way too?

Wow I love you colors, your quilt pattern and you quilting. As to the colors, I'm more into what I chose for the project as I'm learning to quilt so I'm not that seasonal in my fabric selections.
ReplyDeleteWowzers, I love this quilt. It's one of my favorites. I love the border and the quilting and the "backgrounds" and the webs and the binding. Did I miss anything? I don't think so. It's all perfect. Yayyy!

ReplyDeleteWow that is so pretty using various solids instead of just white like I am right now ,I just started one this week , have been using all of my strips and scraps from previous projects ,it is a good way to use the scraps and the pattern is so pretty when put together, good work.

ReplyDeleteAs I sit staring at a stack of unquilted tops, I know you are right....a quilted quilt is better than unfinished tops. I love the one in this post. Hmmm...love the idea of not having the center string not all the same fabric. Bonnie

I am usually quite anal about getting all the points to match--but I am starting to loosen up! I want to make another liberated quilt sometime soon.

Okay, I totally need to take a page out of your book. I'm still afraid of free motion quilting, even though my machine is supposed to be built for it. I've always preferred piecing over quilting but you're right about finished quilts (however they are quilted) being better than flimsies in the cupboard. Thanks for another straw on my back!

ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it! And while I seem to be able to work with any colors any time of year, I am reluctant to work with flannel in the summer - it just doesn't seem right!
