The date that most resembles corduroy, 11-11-11, is finally here!
To celebrate, the Corduroy Quilt Enthusiasts have prepared a show for you.
Click on the links below to see over 30 quilts made from corduroy! And while you're touring the show, you might like to celebrate the day by wearing corduroy, eating long skinny foods, or recalling your fondest corduroy moments.
Remember to send your appreciation to our Veterans and their families too!

First, I'll show you my corduroy quilt. I took the Rebels challenge with the gold and green floral corduroy, added some thrift store clothing and a few bits of yardage.
It's a nice, long size, perfect for a nap on the couch. |
Here's a bit of the Rebels challenge fabric. |
I used wool batting, tied it with wool yarn... |
And backed it with a nice, cozy flannel. |
Now, enjoy the show!

ReplyDeleteLeeAnn,
ReplyDeleteSpectacular quilt! I love the fact that you chose to tie this quilt. It looks so fitting to the nature of the quilt.
Love how you added a bit of purple in there too.
Wonderful color combination and perfectly executed in 'Nifty' style
Thanks SO much for organizing this online exhibit of corduroy quilts! What fun to visit and see all of them!

I think quilts like this always look better tied rather than quilted. It adds a sort of je ne sais quoi to them.

Oh how wonderful to see all the variations. I never tire of a good quilt show! I have to say I have seen most of those Gee's Bend quilts in person and those pictures just don't do not do them justice and I'm thinking we are missing out on the real beauty of these corduroy quilts too in your show.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing them everyone.....
Happy Corduroy day.....and Happy Veteran's Day too.....a heartfelt
thank you to all our Veterans.
Happy Sewing
Happy 11-11-11! Love your quilt, the red ties are perfect - looks like the greatest couch quilt ever! I am famous for falling asleep there, think I need to make one. Hi, LeeAnn. Very interesting concept. Your corduroy quilt looks so cozy. Enjoyed the others too. That being said, I don't think you can get me to use corduroy!
ReplyDeletebest, nadia
I think you are a brave woman, making a quilt out of corduroy. But I do admire the result, love the bold colors and the pretty red ties that bind it all together. Enjoy the quilt!!! You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove it !! you worked real hard to have it done by the 11th I had stopped by on that day ,but didn't have time to leave a comment,I had been looking at some corduroy at the fabric shop near me ,one of these day I'll make a go at it,have a nice Sunday. theodora
ReplyDeleteI love your corduroy quilt! It looks so cozy and soft.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago I used a fine whale corduroy as the backing for a quilt that I hand quilted. Before I knew we weren't supposed to. ;)
That quilt doesn't slip off the bed! LOL
I'm inspired now to look for corduroy at the thrift stores when I go searching for wool.
