"Contentment" 48 x 52" |
It's dark and dreary outside, but inside I played with blocks from my "parts department."
This quilt practically jumped onto the wall!
The words are from Tonya Ricucci's book, Word Play Quilts.
The hst's are from the lovely gals over at Two's Company.
The other blocks are leftovers from various quilts.
OK, now back to holiday gift-making.
Isn't it good to be able to put a whole lot of things together? Are there a few of your left over eyelash blocks in the corners of the word blocks? They look familiar. How did your new work space feel?
ReplyDeleteI'll say it again here.....I love this! And those fan blocks rounding out the corners is perfect!
ReplyDeleteLeeAnn,
ReplyDeleteThose hsts look so pretty. Specially that little one in the bottom left corner!
You did great playing with all the parts from the parts department.
Did you seriously make this in an afternoon?? Even with all the parts, it would take my hours to even start!! Great job.
ReplyDeleteOh this is just super.....you are so good with color and parts matching...love the words too and how you gave them motion....Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing
What a fabulous quilt!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is a Wonderful quilt! Some of my favorite words on it and the little fans are perfect--so full of character. Great way to use up some parts.:)
ReplyDeleteLove how you framed your beauty with your Two's Company blocks!! It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love your Virtues quilts! So much nicer than 4-letter words -- not that there's anything wrong with that. Just, well, nicer.
ReplyDeleteYou really know how to make a quilt SHINE!
ReplyDeleteI love the corners and I'm so happy to see more of your great words. I can't believe this was in the Parts Dept. I don't even have one of those and yet, you had a whole quilt in yours! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have a 'parts' dept.:) I have been cataloguing my project dept. and I have about 27 projects for a rainy day....I hope it rains a lot this winter!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt that interprets nicely the red/green colors for the holiday season. Loved seeing your studio as well. Maybe someday I'll get to see it in person?
ReplyDeleteKeep up the holiday spirit!
best, nadia
Whoa, how fun is this?!?!?!?!?! It's so joyous - great reflection of the holiday season. :) Love all that lime green in there too - your parts department has excellent inventory! (or at least it did!) Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteHow impressive that you can put this together in an afternoon!
ReplyDeleteDo you have a "word" parts department too or did you put those together for this quilt?
So cheerful and an inspirational reminder to see on a wall.
Judy
Oh my! I love your word quilts. So fun to put all the parts department together and it looks fabulous! You are so daring with your designs and fabrics.
ReplyDeleteMakes me feels like it is time for a fiesta. If that doesn't cheer up a dreary day, then it can't be done. You are a master of creativity.
ReplyDeletelove it so much! the different shades of green in the HST's really works. you are sooo talented. maybe you need to make some more virtuous words so that you can continue on with the orphan block virtues quilts. love love love.
ReplyDeletefabulous! so lively and fun, and virtuous! I've found that improv quilts like this just go together quickly -- jump onto the design wall like they were meant to be. great finish! and I think you should buy the rest of your gifts and just play some more with your spare quilt parts!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant !! You really have such movement and yet balance in your quilts. Such beautiful glowing colours. I love this quilt!!
ReplyDeleteI just saw this over at Unruly quilts. I love it. You are such a genius it putting together "orphans." Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteyour random is VERY exciting my dear!
ReplyDeletePerfect cure for a rainy day!
ReplyDeleteLovely cheerful and thoughtful quilt.
ReplyDeletePresent making, that's me too.
So cheerful! Lovely colors!! Funny how some quilts come together quickly - and others don't. This one was meant to be. Love it!
