Oh this looks like so much fun! Let us know how the quilting goes and what you thought of the entire process start to finish. Great colors and movement...too cool!
I second Julie! Please do go into detail about the sewing down. I was really excited to see this post because it's the most informative post I've seen about Freddy Moran's collage technique.
It looks like the pieces are glued down but not to the edge, just enough to secure them temporarily for a few days or weeks. But when I try to enlarge photos of Freddy's quilts, I can't see the detail of how the quilting is done. It doesn't look like the edges are raw, as in raw edge applique. But are they top-stitched with a quarter-inch seam allowance around the edges? Machine blanket-stitched? Are seam allowances turned down and whip-stitched?
The suspense is killing me! Please tell us about the next step! I really do wish Freddy would give a workshop in Texas, but it appears that she stays on the West Coast. :(
WOW!! I LOVE this!! This is such a magical forest!
ReplyDeleteDo you have to glue all the way to the edge of the scrap? Just wondering how it will hold down when stitching. Very inspiring idea!
