Even though I can't read French, I know she's written lovely articles,
as she always does!

I'm honored and thrilled!
For not-so exciting news, here's my design wall today.
I've been making these blocks from shirts that belong to my husband and me.
No rulers, no measuring. The blocks fall into their own rows as they fit.
I've also started a new hand-quilting project.
I'm experimenting with perle 12 thread, hoping it will be easier on my hands.
This photo shows both perle 8 and 12.
It's hard to tell the difference in the look. The 12 is definitely easier to pull through.
I've also dusted off my travel project for a trip to the national parks in Utah.
We'll see how much I get done while gawking at the natural wonders there.

Thanks for the tip on #8 and #12; it's hard to see a difference in the photo, and I'm all for easier-on-the-hands!
Fabulous for you. Your quilts are so worthy of being published and shared. I love the hand work. Seems like Utah is the hot spot for vacation this year, enjoy the scenery!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being published! Beautiful! Have fun at the Park(s)...I told my husband that is my retirement trip...3+ years and counting. LOVE your handwork. We are leaving for 2 weeks in Ireland on Saturday so I am taking some cross stitch and calling it a day. Have a GREAT trip!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the article. It is quite an honor to be published. That is on my bucket list to get published at least once. Love your shirt quilt. It reminds me of the quilt I made for my nephew back in 2011 for his wedding. I bought some vintage French linen, hand dyed some of it and left some of it natural. I will email you a picture of it.

And those shirtings remind me, I have a box full of de-boned shirts from our older son that are waiting for me to decide how to use them. I'm tucking your design wall photo away for future reference - especially like the blend of his and hers shirtings.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on having your fantastic quilts featured: it looks like a great magazine. My French is very rusty but I might see if I can get hold of a copy (it would be good practice!) I have recently used Sulky 12 threads for hand quilting - that weight is definitely easier on the hands.
