At last I finished piecing this wild and crazy, scrappy thing. Every piece tells a story of my quilting process over the last five years. Victoria got me started cutting five-sided pieces and adding to them randomly with her 15 minutes play blog.
Karen inspired me to throw in some selvages with her Selvage Blog.
Many of you cheered me on, as I was looking at this pile of scraps, wondering if it would ever amount to anything. Somehow, the whole queen size quilt barely made a dent. After finishing this quilt, I couldn't stand the mess any longer. I sorted the scraps by color.
I like the way the colors look together so much, I think I'll do some "one color" quilts. We'll see if I can restrain myself this way. Ha!
So far, the yellow/orange one is getting started.

what a breathtaking beautifull scrap quilt,I love it ,and the fabrics left over is sure plenty enough to make more, and you made some pretty pieces,they can be even table runner or a small quilt for the sofa to snuggle with which I love, happy quilting

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about how a large quilt can barely make a dent in your stash...how will we ever get through it all? LOL...I've stopped buying fabric and am trying to plow through all my older stuff ;-D Good job!

You're getting better and better, scary!!! Looks like you're ready to face using your Guatemalan fabrics. I know how much work that five sided scrap piece was. I gave up after 8 blocks.

ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great. I love crazy piecing. I sorted mine into color groups too to make it easier when I did one with blocks based on one color each. the scrap pile always seems to grow after using it, how does that happen? It must just be fluffed up!

ReplyDeleteLOL! I had my scraps sorted by color, thinking I would make single-color blocks too someday. Finally I just gave up and threw them all together into one big basket. Now I'm using them where before I wasn't. Whatever works!
