I went on a road trip last weekend, and managed to get this quilted. It's called "Sujata's Basket," because it is! Sujata sent the basket block along with a scrap exchange last year. I was fooling around with monkey wrench blocks, and this is the result.
I used black #8 perle cotton and a sashiko needle. I love quilting with perle cotton.
My virtue word for the week. We quilt makers know all about this one!
A signature block for Victoria. (The color in this photo is awful. It's really not that pink!)
And the starter of a starters and enders quilt. I have a lot of 3-1/2 squares from years back, enough for a very large quilt.
Love your signature block! Sujata quilt is lovely! great quilting!! Perseverance is a FAVORITE word of mine... It's one of those words that make you WANT to PERSEVERE! a big strong word! ;-) miss ya girl!
ReplyDeleteLove "Sujata's Basket"...it is such fun! How big is it? I am also intrigued by your virtues project that I also saw over on Unruly Quilting. I just may have to work on some of the words over the summer. Thank you for all of the inspiration! (Hmm...inspiration/inspirational...a way to work that as a virtue?)
ReplyDeleteLeeAnn,
ReplyDeleteYour basket quilt is looking very Nifty! I have never used a sashiko needle. Are they any different than embroidery needles?
The virtue block is a great reminder for me to start making my own list of words to make a quilt someday.
Victoria's block and your one patch look like fun beginning of wonderful quilts to come in near future.
I really like Sujata's Basket. The monkey wrench blocks are really cute. I also llike the quilting with the dark cotton. Great work. I didn't realize you lived here in the Seattle area. I live in Renton. We should try and meet and play some day.
ReplyDeleteyour basket quilt is so cute! I love the combination of blocks, it gives a lot of life to the project.

ReplyDeleteSujata's Basket is great! I don't think you told the size - I was just wondering about scale. I also like quilting with pearl cotton very much.
ReplyDeleteA few of you asked the size of Sujata's Basket. The whole quilt is 25" x 29", just perfect for a small wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteThere's been a bit of perserverance at my place so I think that's wonderful. Love the little quilt with the perle quilting, it looks great.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to try that perle cotton one of these days. It is a charming finish
ReplyDeleteLove the way you quilted this.....gives it that very folksy feeling......lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing
The basket quilt is so very fun! V's signature block is on my list for the week. And all those 3 1/2" squares...hmmmmm, what will they become? Can't wait to see.
ReplyDeleteYour wonky wrenches are the cutest and those quilting stitches really say so. The whole piece is adorable! Love that rosebud block for V, too. Tell me....what is a starters and enders quilt? I will persevere until I hear.
