A Couple of Finishes


I've been on a roll with free-motion quilting.  
"Autumn Rose"  70" x 46"




The more I practice, the more I enjoy it.

"Scrappy Coins" 82" x 54"




Using several different designs helps to keep me entertained.

    Congratulations on finishing two beautiful quilts!! I really love the rust coloured edges and stripey binding on Autumn Rose. You've really taken to FMQ. It's fun looking at the different designs you've used. Did you come home with a Christmas sweater? Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

    Lovely free motion quilting on these--I still haven't even tried it...just getting into straight line quilting with a walking foot! Hugs, Julierose

    Step away from the sweaters! (though I did see someone repurposing them into skirts -- pretty cute)
    Autumn Rose looks to me like your Christmas quilt, I really like it! 2014 will be my year to tackle scraps & fmq. I'm sure I will be going to you for advise!

    Great finishes. I find the more I do fmq, the more I want to do it. I like the way the pattern moves around on the gingham hexies. Please post that stringy coin quilt on the string blog!

    Oh wow look at how your FMQ is improving, it looks nice and smooth with regular stitch size....nicely done. I have got to practice some more!
    Have you heard of ugly Christmas sweater parties? Everyone finds the ugliest sweater ( used)they can find and mismatches is with more ugly clothes then get together and party. Lots of pictures are a must!!!

    LeeAnn, I was just thinking of your hexagon quilt. Just came across a dress with large print and thought of may be making one. I love both your finishes. Your machine quilting looks beautiful.
    Aaah... the display at the thrift store - I hope you got some good stuff for new quilts.

    Both quilts are marvelous! I love the scrappy coins. The Christmas sweaters - ha ha. I think I wore one of those when I taught fourth grade!

    I love how you repurpose things into such amazing creations, and your stacked coins is no exception. Beautiful!

    I saw a similar display at the Goodwill a couple weekends ago. A year ago I was selling these on eBay, but now the local thrifts have gotten the memo and set them aside until the holiday season. Fine with me, as I'm happy not to have that distraction this year!

    Lovely finishes! Your selection of FMQ fillers is a lot of fun, and the feathers are most impressive! Great work. Finding the right quilting for a quilt can be challenging, love the playfulness of these.
