So we'll need some tree trunks,
And some greens,
Some light shining through the trees, some more browns and greens, and some red maple leaves. Wa-la! It's 80 x 77 inches, nice and big. I think I'll call it, "Corduroy Forest."
Now to tie it before Christmas!

Loved to read about your design process. I think this is a great gift for a grown up son, keeping him warm when he is not longer living under your roof. You have a great way of putting colors together, just love the look of this forest (pink sunset seeping through the tree trunks...)

can I ask why are you tying it vs just machine quilting it with straight lines? just curious?

Hi leeAnn that will be so nice and warm for your son and pretty, I also love your string kite shapes ,I think the olive green and the kona green is the best for my eyes not that the others are not pretty ,but they bring out all the colors that you have put in,but it is your quilt of course and it will look beautiful what ever you choose .

Were the first strips of brown sewn down and you kept adding to it?
This quilt makes me want to reach out and pet it, and I just know it is even more beautiful in person with all those velvety wales adding texture.

I can visualise corduroy in brown and green but what was the tomato red cord before it was a quilt? I like your process photos because the last one was such a vibrant surprise. Great present.

I think it is stunning. could you share a bit more what you used for the foundation and are any of the edges of the strips left as raw edges or did you sew and flip? It all looks so neat as if there are not raw edges. thank you for sharing. Janita
Fabulous use of solids, and thanks for showing your process. You can really "see" the trees in the final quilt that way.
