Exciting and not-so exciting news.

Wow!
There are two beautiful articles about my quilts in Les Nouvelles,
Patchwork et Creation Textile, the magazine of France Patchwork.

My dear friend, Katell Renon, writes for the magazine.

Even though I can't read French, I know she's written lovely articles,
as she always does!
You can see more of her interesting and insightful articles about quilting here:

It's a gorgeous publication, mostly produced by and for the members of
France Patchwork.
I'm honored and thrilled!

For not-so exciting news, here's my design wall today.
I've been making these blocks from shirts that belong to my husband and me.
No rulers, no measuring. The blocks fall into their own rows as they fit.

I've also started a new hand-quilting project.
I'm experimenting with perle 12 thread, hoping it will be easier on my hands.
This photo shows both perle 8 and 12.
It's hard to tell the difference in the look.  The 12 is definitely easier to pull through.

I've also dusted off my travel project for a trip to the national parks in Utah.
We'll see how much I get done while gawking at the natural wonders there.

Happy Spring!

Congratulations on being published - in French no less! Ooo la la!

I love the marriage of your husband's and your shirts; what a lovely way to visually symbolize your own marriage.

Thanks for the tip on #8 and #12; it's hard to see a difference in the photo, and I'm all for easier-on-the-hands!

You simply deserve such publications, your art has no borders! I was honored to get such meaningful answers to my questions about your intentions in quilting, your influences and so on. Thank YOU LeeAnn.

What a good idea to put your blue clothes together! Will you stick to blue?
After yout trip to Utah you may want to add some earthy brick colors ;-)

Have a great holiday time!

Nice article! Beautiful quilts! I like the number 12 as well. I've been using it off of the spool lately and it is so much easier on the hands (and threading too!) Enjoy your vaca...

Congratulations on being published! Beautiful! Have fun at the Park(s)...I told my husband that is my retirement trip...3+ years and counting. LOVE your handwork. We are leaving for 2 weeks in Ireland on Saturday so I am taking some cross stitch and calling it a day. Have a GREAT trip!

A delightful post. What fun to see your quilts in print. I've been working on some quarter log cabins, too. Using shirts beloved by you and your husband will make this very special. Have fun in Utah.

Congratulations on the article. It is quite an honor to be published. That is on my bucket list to get published at least once. Love your shirt quilt. It reminds me of the quilt I made for my nephew back in 2011 for his wedding. I bought some vintage French linen, hand dyed some of it and left some of it natural. I will email you a picture of it.

Even though I don't read/speak French, the presentation of your work in the magazine is beautiful!! Congratulations on the well-deserved recognition. And those shirtings remind me, I have a box full of de-boned shirts from our older son that are waiting for me to decide how to use them. I'm tucking your design wall photo away for future reference - especially like the blend of his and hers shirtings.

I sure wish I could get copies of that French magazine, or that they put out copies in English - but I'd want them just for the pictures of your marvelous quilts. Big congratulations, and well deserved! I love all your projects - even the ones you say are "not so exciting."

Congratulations on the magazine articles. I just love seeing your quilts here and would love to see them in person. They are original and just so FUN!

Congratulations on having your fantastic quilts featured: it looks like a great magazine. My French is very rusty but I might see if I can get hold of a copy (it would be good practice!) I have recently used Sulky 12 threads for hand quilting - that weight is definitely easier on the hands.

A really nice "french connection" patchwork ! The article explains us how this quilt has been made, after your trip in France with Will in Paris, and with Katell in Toulouse !
A really nice story .. I am sure that most people cannot imagine how the patchwork connect people ! I
I am always amazed .. by the international connection .. provided by internet mainly!
Have a good day and next time in Paris, I will join you with Will !!

How exciting!! Congratulations on being published in French. Your quilts are always so beautiful and should be shared with the world. Even your not so exciting news is a treat to see, beautiful works in progress and interesting to hear your thoughts about using thinner thread.
