Red Lightning

Look what the busy bees over at 15 minutes play made!! November was my month to receive blocks from these wonderful gals. What a bunch of creativity and generosity entered my mailbox all month! Some are bold, some intricate. The combination is just perfect. Thank you to all!!

After all that excitement, I felt like making something with a pattern. I love this quilt on the cover of Kaffe's Quilt Romance. He calls it Pickle Dish. I call it Eye Lashes. I've often said I'd never do paper piecing. Never say never!

This is just the beginning. There are 30 more "eyes" to make. The red background idea came from a beautiful quilt pictured on Ann Champion's blog.

Love, love, love the Bee piece. Silly me I decided I couldn't add another Bee.

Drat!!! I have been trying to avoid the K. Fassett version of wedding ring (pickle dish has triangles in the rings) and the accompanying book. Now I don't think I can resist after your inspiration.

Your 15-minutes quilt is great, and I like your name of Eyelashes better than PickleDish. I never could understand why that name. I love the bold colors you are putting in there!

Reminds me of African-American Wedding Ring quilts from the 30's. It really do "show up".

You're tempting me to get into paper piecing with your Eye Lashes. WOW - it's an eye opener for sure. Love the colors. Thanks for sharing.

your Red Lightening is gorgeous! I've been following you guys on the Bee and you put it together fabulously! I love the Kaffee quilt. I've eyed that book but...maybe I'll get an Amazon card for Christmas! Beautiful job.

Wowser! Red Lightning is terrific. And I commented on your Eye Lash quilt before reading this post. That is a pretty tight curve going on there. Are you removing the paper foundation before joining the arc and the melon?

Today I'm featuring gorgeous red quilts for Valentine's Day eye candy. Your Red Lightning quilt had to be there (with a link to this blog, of course). I love this quilt.
