Home decorator fabric, that is. Pat Sloan and I talked about using unusual fabrics in quilts on her radio show recently. Here are some quilts I've made using home dec fabrics. I started using them because I just love the large prints and textures. Mine come from thrift stores, but you could use new as well.

| This is the first time I used home dec fabric in a quilt. The black is an old, faded piece and the border is a thick weave. |

| The border and sashing are some old curtains from the 1960's or 1970's. I found them at Goodwill all dusty, but they washed up just fine. |

| Most of these houses are made of chintz upholstery samples. The border is a thick brocade. |

| When I looked for a border for this quilt, this table cloth said, "pick me!" I had to cut off the 4" long white fringe first. |

| This border is another 1970's piece. Ah, the good old days of "flower power!" |
 |
| The red print was a large chintz sample, 52 x 52" |
 |
| The white floral strips are from a remnant I found in Sweden. |

Wow, I didn't realize how many home dec quilts you'd made. I like home dec too, but haven't made many quilts with it yet. You've inspired me to do something with it! I love your bold quilts . . . so colorful.

Fantastic quilts as usual with you! Home deco fabrics give an unusual peps to quilts, as you said probably because of a different scale in prints.
I began patchwork as there were no patch fabrics in Europe, so I used to work with deco fabrics from Provence, Ikea fabrics or shirtings... It was already recycling !
I've never used home decorator fabric in a quilt but I've often thought they'd be fabulous and so unlike quilting fabric. I did a class a few years back and learnt to look a bit further afield for great prints. Loved seeing your treaured quilts again.

Had no idea that so much of the gorgeousness in your quilts came from home dec fabrics! Love seeing all these quilts together, so inspiring and so inspired! Glad you keep hearing that little voice telling you to make those awesome fabric choices!

One day you will be able to host a solo show with all your quilts. I don't know how you manage to make recycling look so good. I go to op shops but never seem to have the same vision as you. It must have been fun doing the interview.
