New Chapter

It's hard to believe it's been just three years since I started blogging with this photo.
It shows my quilting room made into a "recording studio" for my son's band.
They had the brilliant idea of using quilts on the walls and windows for sound quality.

Since then, my son has moved out and left the remnants of his childhood.

I decided I needed the room for guests and the closets for my supplies, so...

A bit of sorting...

A load to the Goodwill, and...

Wa-la!

Plus an extra closet just for my quilts.

Some curtains,

A few quilts,

And I'm ready to host a quilty friend from Norway!

The picture of the sewing area and band equipment....too funny! Your new guest room a delight. Our daughter came home a few times so I never could take over her room with assurance I could leave it that way.

Lovely guest room! Looks like from a decor magazine photoshoot! A closet for quilts is wonderful too. (I took over part of my daughter's closet when she left--it was nice to have some breathing room for all my UFO's)

I'm with Barb, can I make a reservation?
Yeah the shrine to the kids have got to go and no need to let them think they can come back :0) Onward and forward thinking into adulthood!

Nicely done, the room looks so inviting, and of course they'll be room for her in the sewing room too :0)

Happy Sewing

Isn't wonderful to sort and get rid of so much!?!! It feels so great to have everything organized, (until of course it gets messy again. hehe.)

Love all the quilts in your "new" room. Lucky guests.

What a transformation! Your guest will never leave. I hope your son was appreciative of the artistry of his sound insulation. Your quilts are much more beautiful than the empty egg cartons my husband had glued to the wall to muffle sound when we met!

Phew! Nothing like a visitor to get the ball rolling and some major cleaning done. The room looks fabulous. I hope your son doesn't come home one day and ask for his missing game of Pictionary!

How pretty! I'm only getting 'part' of my son's room to turn into my quilting room. He's supposed to pack up most of what is left over Christmas (like that's going to happen).

Sure looks different than when I was there in June. No more spaceships. It was comfy then and feels like home now.

I imagine it was a bit of a heart tug, cleaning out his room, but it always feels so good once things have moved on to a useful life with someone new to love them. And very good for you to ge to spread out -- looks like a lovely space!

Hi LeeAnn,
I remember that picture very well! Can't believe it has been three years already! And, your quilts! They are spectacular in that closet and on the bed. Today is my first day back at reading blogs. And as usual, your post does not disappoint. I am not only inspired to sew but to clean and make changes. May be too soon to get rid of Kavita's stuff but there is plenty I could take to the Goodwill.
Love those curtains too. The whole room looks so warm and inviting!
