"Hourglass"

I finally finished this top, after starting it last summer and putting it away for awhile.
"Hourglass"  (aka Courthouse Steps) 64" x  78"
Made from shirt scraps and vintage fabrics.

It's my rendition of this quilt from Roderick Kiracofe's collection.

"Housetop, variation" c. 1950-1975, African American
From the book, "Quilts" by Roderick Kiracofe.

I'm not sure how I'll quilt it.  I'm thinking about lots of red ties.
Whatever I do, it'll be awhile before my hands are free.

They're occupied with this one for the next six weeks.
It's got a date with the local quilt show in March!

This is gorgeous! I feel totally inspired and have been revisiting and old sketch. Was it difficult to get the top to be flat?

Love your Gee Bendy Hourglass. Like your idea about using red ties. I think that will work really well. I could use some pressure to finish a quit top or two. Good luck in getting the Eye Lash Quilt done for the show. It will rock their socks off once it's finished.

Hi, Nifty. Just LUV your hour glass quilt (and the original). To my way of thinking, it deserves to be quilted, it's just so lovely.

I'm back. I got so inspired by this quilt and I have so much shirting fabric (from men shirts) so I started piecing the center of it. It's really fun! Thanks LeeAnn for sharing and inspiring. You are a true Gee's bend gal - Hugs Nat
